Should You Be Worried About Germs in Your Swimming Pool?

  • Written by NewsServices.com

Having a pool or going to the community or public pool with the kids is fun and games until you get sick from it. Let’s face it. A lot of people nowadays do not know the danger of swimming in a pool filled with people. As clean as the water looks, germs are scattered everywhere and might affect your and your family’s health.

Below are the reasons why you should be worried about germs in your swimming pool:

You Could Get Diarrhea

One of the main concerns, when you go to the pool too much, is the probability of getting diarrhea. People go into the pool without showering off the dirt from the pathway around the pool. There are also times when they pee in the water making it more possible to get you sick.

You Could Get Ear Infections

Another reason to get worried about germs in your swimming pool is the ear infection that might arise. When you swim, you go on fully submerging yourself in water and this is a reason how germs and bacteria can infect your ear.

You Could Get Skin Rashes

Last but not least, you could get rashes when you don’t take precautionary measures when taking a bath in a pool. This is why some pool-goers wear rashguards to cover their bodies, even their arms. But, even if you wear this kind of clothing, if your skin is sensitive, you will acquire rashes.

So the question now is, how do you avoid getting sick from swimming in pools?

Do Not Swallow Water

This is inevitable but as much as possible, avoid swallowing water from the pool. Even though the pool has chlorine and other chemicals, you still might catch germs from it. Another trick you might want to do when you go to community pools is to go as early as possible to avoid huge crowds.

Always Shower Before and After Going to the Pool

One of the most crucial routines that you need to embed in your mind is to shower before and after swimming. This will ensure that your body is cleansed and will not put anything into the pool. However, if you go to public pools or community pools, you will still get sick if others do not do this precautionary routine as well.

Watch Out for Hot Days

There are seasons where the germs and bacteria are apparent and one of which is the hot scorching summer days. You can also expect this kind of surge of pool infections and sickness after heavy rainfall.

Swimming in the pools is fun only if you don’t get sick after doing so. Always bear in mind that cleanliness is still key. Watch out for huge crowds and as much as possible, avail of private pool areas for the safety of the kids. And if circumstances permit, always use a swimming pool cleaner to ensure its cleanliness.
